Hunter Wolfe Went 7.0 Innings On The Mound And Allowed Just One Hit While Striking Out 10

ST. LOUIS – The University of Dayton baseball team opened up conference play with a statement win over Saint Louis by a score of 3-2 on Friday night. Dayton has now won back-to-back games and owns of record of 8-10-1, while Saint Louis drops to 10-11 on the year.

Hunter Wolfe threw 7.0 innings of one-hit, shutout ball on the mound and earned the win for the Flyers, while Tyler Jones came in during the ninth and closed the door for the save.
 
KEY MOMENT
With runners on second and third and just one out, Tyler Jones struck out Cole Dubet and got Colten Schild to ground out to second base to end the game.
 
SCORING SUMMARY
Top 4: Dayton 1, Saint Louis 0
Jay Curtis singled to right and then advanced to third on a wild pitch and a stolen base. Michael Cleary drove Curtis home with a two-out single to center field to put Dayton on the board first.
 
Top 5: Dayton 2, Saint Louis 0
Connor Echols reached on a single to center and scored all the way from first when Alex Brickman doubled off the wall in right center.

Mitchell Garrity hit a ball down the left field line which was dropped by the Saint Louis left fielder, allowing a hustling Garrity to reach third to open the inning. Connor Echols was hit by a pitch and Alex Brickman reach on catcher's interference to load the bases, and with two outs, Riley Tirotta delivered a hard hit grounder with two outs that was too hot for the Billiken third baseman to handle to score Garrity from third.

Jake Garella led off the inning with a single and Shane Benes followed with a home run to left field to put Saint Louis on the board and cut the lead to one.
