Colorado State Classic On Tap For Softball

Dayton To Play Syracuse, Wagner and Host Colorado State

DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team is heading west to Fort Collins, Colorado, for the Colorado State Classic March 8-10. Dayton is scheduled to play a total of five games against Syracuse, Wagner and host Colorado State at Ram Field.

About Dayton
Dayton (7-5) picked up three wins last weekend at Belmont's Bruin Classic before heading home early due to inclement weather in Nashville. The Flyers have now had three games cancelled due to weather. UD is led offensively by senior Kyle Davidson with a .425 average that includes a team-best 17 hits on the season. She also is 10-for-11 in stolen bases and averages 0.83 SB/game which ranks eighth nationally. In the circle, senior Jessica Gilliam (3-2) carries the team's low ERA of 2.05 and has struck out 22.

Colorado State: The Rams hold a 2-1 advantage over the Flyers after the two split two games in 2014's Colorado State Classic.
Syracuse: First Meeting
Wagner: Dayton has won three of its four meetings against Wagner in the all-time series, including a 7-0 win in the pair's last meeting on March 6, 2015.

Cacini #A10SB Rookie of the Week
For the second time this season a Flyer was named the Atlantic 10's Rookie of the Week on Monday, March 4. Arlington Heights, Ill., native Alyssa Cacini led the team with a .750 average as Dayton collected three wins at the weather-shortened Belmont Bruin Classic. She was a perfect 2-for-2 with one walk in a 3-1 win over Northern Kentucky. In Dayton's 3-2 win over Belmont, Cacini batted a two-RBI double to tie the game at two runs apiece. She recorded seven putouts and three assists to zero errors while posting a .800 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage.
