COLUMBUS -- The University of Dayton baseball team dropped a midweek contest to Ohio State by a score of 4-2 on Wednesday evening. Dayton is now 18-14-1 on the season, while Ohio State's record improves to 18-16 with the win.

KEY MOMENT
The game was tied at 2-2 heading into the eighth inning and both teams had the bases loaded with one out in the frame, but Dayton was unable to take advantage, while Ohio State scored a pair on a bases loaded walk and a sacrifice fly.

SCORING SUMMARY
Top 3: Dayton 2, Ohio State 0
Dayton had the bases loaded with just one out when Takahiro Yamada and Benjamin Blackwell were both hit by a pitch and Mitchell Garrity singled to right. Connor Echols legged out a throw to first base to reach on a fielder's choice and drive in Yamada for the first run of the game. Riley Tirotta followed by adding to his team-high 23 RBIs entering the day with a lined single to center field to send Garrity across the plate.

Bottom 3: Dayton 2, Ohio State 1
Zach Dezezno led off the inning with a single and moved up to third when a Dylan Keller overthrew Eddie Pursinger on a pickoff attempt followed by a sacrifice bunt before scoring on a wild pitch.

Bottom 6: Dayton 2, Ohio State 2
Dominic Canzone doubled off the right field wall to open the inning and advanced to third on a called balk, then scored on a Brady Cherry sac fly to tie the game.

Bottom 8: Ohio State 4, Dayton 2
A walk and a single to open the inning gave Ohio State a pair of baserunners, then a sac bunt moved both into scoring position and Dayton intentionally walked the next batter to set up both a force at home and the possibility of a double play. A bases loaded walk and sacrifice fly scored a pair of runs to give the Buckeyes their first lead of the game.
