Ypsilanti, Mich. – The University of Dayton baseball team defeated Eastern Michigan on by a score of 4-1 on Tuesday afternoon. The Flyers improve to 20-16-1 with the win, while the Eagles drop to 8-28-1 on the year. Dayton's 20 wins are now just one shy of last year's total, which was the most wins in a single season since 2014.

KEY MOMENT
With the game tied at 1-1 and two outs in top of the ninth,
Mitchell Garrity was at third base for Dayton when
Takahiro Yamada hit a ground ball to second base and Drake Peggs made an error for Eastern Michigan, allowing Garrity to score the first of what would turn out to be three runs in the inning.

Mitchell Garrity was hit by a pitch with two outs to give Dayton its first baserunner of the inning, then moved all the way to third when he stole second and the ball was kicked into the outfield on the throw down to try and catch him stealing. The Flyers took the lead when
Takahiro Yamada beat out a throw at first following an error by the Eastern Michigan second baseman, allowing Garrity to score on the play.
Connor Echols and
Jay Curtis both walked to load the bases, then
Riley Tirotta added a pair of insurance runs to the board when his single to right center drove in a pair.
