DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team will host Morehead State Wednesday for a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. at UD Softball Stadium and admission is free.

About Dayton
Dayton (15-16, 5-1 A-10) went 3-0 last week in Atlantic 10 Conference contests before having its last two games of the weekend cancelled due to weather.  The Flyers are currently in first place in league standings with a 5-1 mark in A-10 play. Dayton is led offensively by senior Lisa Tassi with a .378 average (9th A-10) while senior Kyle Davidson has collected a team-best 36 hits and 18 stolen bases. Senior Jessica Gilliam, the reigning A-10 Pitcher of the Week, holds the team's low ERA of 3.29 (7th A-10) and has tallied a team-high 68 strikeouts (5th A-10).

Scouting the Eagles
Morehead State (2-23, 0-6 OVC) is currently suffering through a nine-game skid, including two losses at UT Martin on Sunday. Princess Valencia carries the team's best batting average (.364) while Aubrey Bennett has tallied 17 hits and has stolen six bases for the Eagles. Lakyn Largent has put in 50.0 innings of work in the circle and has collected 10 strikeouts.

Series Stuff
In a series that dates back to 1985, Morehead State holds a 30-25-1 advantage over Dayton. The pair last squared off March 29, 2016, in Dayton as the Flyers claimed two wins over the Eagles.

In the NCAA's most recent Rating Percentage Index (RPI) for the 2019 season posted on March 31, Dayton came in at 181 according to NCAA.com, up 30 slots from last week. Morehead State was ranked 278.

Gilliam April 1 Pitcher of the Week
Senior right-handed pitcher Jessica Gilliam has been named the Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week as announced by the league office Monday, April 1. Gilliam worked consecutive complete games over two wins in the circle for Dayton this past week. She allowed three earned runs in 14 innings of work for a 1.50 ERA on the week. In a 9-3 win at Saint Louis Wednesday, Gilliam tallied six strikeouts to zero walks while allowing three earned runs on seven hits. She followed that with a complete-game shutout of Rhode Island on Friday as she fanned a career-high 11 while walking one and gave up zero runs on three hits.

Senior Kyle Davidson has made 144 consecutive appearances in the Flyers' starting lineup. During her career at UD, Davidson has started in 166 of the 175 games she has played.

Bring Me Home
Sophomore Abby Ehrenborg leads the team and ranks third in the A-10 with 26 RBI this season. Ehrenborg has posted five multiple RBI games in 2019 including five RBI against Kennesaw State on Feb. 16 at the Chattanooga Classic. Ehrenborg was named to the All-Conference First Team and All-Rookie Team following her freshman season for her play primarily as designated player.
