Softball To Host Toledo For Midweek Double Wednesday

Flyers Celebrating Faculty/Staff Appreciation

DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team will welcome Toledo to UD Softball Stadium for a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. and admission is free. Both games will be available online via live stats and ESPN+.

About Dayton
Dayton (21-20, 8-4 A-10) had its three-game conference home series against Massachusetts washed out this past weekend after halting the first game in the top of the third on Friday. The Flyers, currently in third place in Atlantic 10 team standings, are led offensively by senior Lisa Tassi with a .381 average (7th A-10) and 48 hits (t-6th A-10), including 12 doubles (t-6th A-10), while sophomore Abby Ehrenborg (.356) has knocked out 11 home runs (3rd A-10) and batted in 42 runs (2nd A-10). Senior Jessica Gilliam (9-8) carries the team's low ERA of 3.42 and has tallied a team-best 76 strikeouts (6th A-10) over 102.1 innings pitched.

Scouting the Rockets
Toledo (17-23, 6-7 MAC) split a conference doubleheader at Ball State Friday before the series finale was cancelled on Saturday. The Rockets are led by everyday short stop Kylie Norwood with a .331 average and 47 hits, including a team-best 12 doubles. Maggie McGurk (6-3) boasts a 2.77 ERA over 53.0 innings of work in the circle while Erin Hunt (9-10) has racked up 133 strikeouts in 116.1 innings pitched.

Series Stuff
The Rockets and Flyers have squared of 20 times, including earlier this season at the Chattanooga Challenge. Toledo claimed a narrow 6-5 win in Chattanooga on Feb. 15. Prior to this season's first match-up, the pair split a doubleheader in Toledo on April 9, 2014. Overall, Toledo holds a 14-6 advantage in the series.

RPI Rankings
In the NCAA's most recent Rating Percentage Index (RPI) for the 2019 season posted on April 21, Dayton came in at 197 according to NCAA.com. Toledo was ranked 170.

Bring Me Home
Sophomore Abby Ehrenborg leads the team and ranks second in the A-10 with 42 RBI this season. Ehrenborg has posted nine multiple-RBI games in 2019 including five RBI against Kennesaw State on Feb. 16 at the Chattanooga Classic. Ehrenborg was named to the All-Conference First Team and All-Rookie Team following her freshman season for her play primarily as designated player.

Catch Me If You Can
As a team, Dayton is 72-for-90 in stolen bases on the season - the 72 stolen bases ranks first in the Atlantic 10 and has already surpassed last season's total of 63. The Flyers' 1.76 SB/game ranks 27th nationally. Senior Kyle Davidson leads the Flyers on the base paths with 19 stolen bases (2nd A-10) on the season. Senior Lisa Tassi has stolen 15 bases (t-3rd A-10) while sophomore Briley Sidor has collected nine stolen bases (t-11 A-10). With her 41 career stolen bases, Davidson ranks fifth all-time in the Dayton record book.

Junior Ellie Ziegler has taken a team- and career-high 14 bases on balls (t-16th A-10) this season. Sophomore Abby Ehrenborg is second on the team with her career-high 10 walks.

Senior Kyle Davidson has tallied 173 career hits and is currently in seventh place in the Dayton record book. Former Flyer Gabrielle Snyder (2014-17) holds the record with 222 hits.
