DAYTON -- The University of Dayton baseball team lost to Wright State by a score of 8-7 on Wednesday afternoon at DP&L Stadium. The Flyers are now 22-19-1 heading into their series against Saint Joseph's this weekend, while Wright State improves to 29-13 with the victory.
Dayton trailed 8-5 heading into the bottom of the ninth, but each of the first five batters of the inning reached base, including hits from
Tate Hagan,
Mitchell Garrity and
Connor Echols, to cut the Wright State lead to just one. Facing the bases loaded and no outs, Jake Schrand recorded three consecutive outs on the mound for the Raiders, leaving the ninth-inning rally effort just short for the Flyers.
