DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team hosted Saint Joseph's on Friday afternoon for the first game of three home games this weekend and won by a score of 11-6 at DP&L Stadium. Dayton is now 23-19-1 with the win,  while Saint Joseph's drops to 15-21 on the season.
 
 
KEY MOMENT
After falling behind 2-0 in the first inning, the Flyers came out of the bottom of the second with two outs in a strong way. 
Benjamin Blackwell and 
Tate Hagan hit back-to-back doubles to put a run on the board for the Flyers. 
Takahiro Yamada is then able to follow up by reaching first on an error, allowing Hagan to work his way to third. With two runners on base, 
Mitchell Garrity hit a three-run homerun to right field to put the Flyers in the lead by a 4-2 margin.

Tate Hagan led off for the Flyers in the bottom of the sixth, and singled to left field. 
Takahiro Yamada was walked and 
Mitchell Garrity doubled down the left field line, bringing in 
Connor Wilson, who pinch ran for Hagan. 
Michael Cleary was then hit by a pitch to load the bases for the Flyers. 
Connor Echols doubled the Dayton lead with a grand slam to right field.

Brendan Hueth singled down the right side and Andrew Cossetti drove him home with a double to right center.

The Hawks added two in the ninth, but it was not enough.

	- Hunter Wolfe pitched for 6.1 innings, throwing 9 strikeouts.
- The Flyers hit for an overall .342 (13-38), while Saint Joseph's hit for an overall .206 (7-34).

UP NEXT
Dayton will host Saint Joseph's tomorrow (Apr. 27) at 1:00 p.m. It is Kids' Day and the first 100 kids will receive free Dayton Flyers Eyeblack. Kids will also be allowed to run the bases after the game.
