George Mason Sneaks Past #UDMTEN, 4-3

Dayton Will Play George Washington Tomorrow At 10 A.M. (ET)

Fairfax, Va. -- The University of Dayton men's tennis team had its five-match winning streak snapped on Saturday morning with a 4-3 loss to George Mason. Dayton is now 14-6 this season, while George Mason improves to 7-9 with the victory.

Dayton started strong by sweeping all three doubles courts, highlighted by a 6-2 point-clinching win by Jordan Benjamin and Spencer Richey at the No. 1 spot in the lineup.

The Flyers took two of the first three singles matches to take a 3-1 lead in the match, beginning with a 7-5, 6-2 win from Steven Karl at No. 4 singles. Langford Hills also won at No. 2 by a score of 6-4, 6-4 to increase the UD lead to two. George Mason battled back with straight set wins on courts six and three to even up the match at three apiece, leaving the match's result to the winner of the top spot in the lineup. Jordan Benjamin defeated Edward Ayers in the first set 7-6 (5), but dropped the second set by the same score. Ayers took the third set by a 6-3 margin to clinch the match for the Patriots.

The Flyers will be back in action tomorrow with a match against George Washington at 10 a.m. (ET).
