DAYTON -- In a game that was called after seven innings due to lightning in the area, the University of Dayton baseball team defeated Bowling Green by a score of 6-3 on Wednesday afternoon. Dayton improves to 25-21-1 with the win and will carry some momentum into this weekend's series at La Salle. Bowling Green drops to 13-27 with the loss.
KEY MOMENT
The game was tied at 3-3 heading into the bottom of the sixth, but
Bryce Hellgeth doubled with one out to give Dayton a runner in scoring position.
Takahiro Yamada singled to place runners at the corners and
Connor Wilson ripped a single through the left side to drive in Hellgeth for the go-ahead run. Yamada would go on to score on a wild pitch and Wilson came across home plate when
Riley Tirotta reached on an error. The inning built up a 6-3 lead for Dayton, which ended up as the final score.

Michael Cleary both walked to put a pair of runners on with no outs for Dayton.
Riley Tirotta was robbed of sure extra bases by a diving catch from the Bowling Green center fielder, but Wilson showed off the wheels and tagged up to score all the way from second base. A single from
Eddie Pursinger put runners and the corners and with two outs, Pursinger took off from first base to draw a pick off throw, which allowed Cleary to break for home from third and both runners were safe on the play to tie the game.
