#UDBASE Defeats Rhode Island In A-10 Opening Round, 5-2

The Win Is Dayton's First In Postseason Play Since 2012

Bronx, N.Y. – The University of Dayton baseball team earned its first postseason win since 2012, when the No. 3 Flyers defeated No. 6 Rhode Island in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament. Tyler Jones earned the win with 4.2 scoreless innings on the mound and Eddie Pursinger had a game-high three RBI with a bases loaded double in the bottom of the eighth.

KEY MOMENT
Eddie Pursinger came up to the plate for his first at-bat of the day with the bases loaded and the game tied at 2-2 headed into the bottom of the eighth and he delivered a bases-clearing double down the left field line to put Dayton ahead by three runs, which was more than enough cushion for Tyler Jones to shut the door on Rhode Island in the ninth.

UP NEXT
Dayton takes on the winner of No. 2 Davidson and No. 7 Saint Louis tomorrow at 10 a.m. (ET).
