Bronx, N.Y. – The University of Dayton baseball team earned its first postseason win since 2012, when the No. 3 Flyers defeated No. 6 Rhode Island in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament.
Tyler Jones earned the win with 4.2 scoreless innings on the mound and
Eddie Pursinger had a game-high three RBI with a bases loaded double in the bottom of the eighth.

Eddie Pursinger came up to the plate for his first at-bat of the day with the bases loaded and the game tied at 2-2 headed into the bottom of the eighth and he delivered a bases-clearing double down the left field line to put Dayton ahead by three runs, which was more than enough cushion for
Tyler Jones to shut the door on Rhode Island in the ninth.
