Newport News, Va. – University of Dayton Freshman Kyle Schmidt has been named the Atlantic 10 Golfer of the Week and Rookie of the Week as announced by the league office Friday, September 13. This is the first weekly honor for the Cincinnati, Ohio, native in his career.
 
Schmidt had an incredible weekend at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational. With his first-place finish, Schmidt helped the Flyers finish in second place at the tournament. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native carded a 202 and had an incredible first round where he shot a 65 (-6). That score was followed with a 69 (-2) and 68 (-3) in the other two rounds. For the tournament, Schmidt carded 16 birdies over the three rounds.
 
Dayton is set to play at the Golfweek Conference Challenge on Sept. 13-15. The Golfweek Conference Challenge is in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
