DAYTON - The University of Dayton volleyball team will be heading to Columbus this weekend to take part in the OSU Buckeye Invite Sept. 20-21. In addition to squaring off against host Ohio State, Dayton will also be facing Miami (Ohio) and Illinois State during the two-day event being played at the Buckeye's Covelli Center.

Dayton (5-5) picked up wins over Kansas State and Missouri State last weekend at MSU's Fall Invitational and sophomore
Maura Collins earned her third-consecutive appointment to the all-tournament team for her efforts. The Flyers are led by sophomore
Jamie Peterson with 4.15 kills/set (2nd A-10) and 0.49 aces/set (4th A-10) while Collins passes a team-best 4.51 digs/set (2nd A-10).
Scouting Miami
Miami (4-4) split a pair of matches in Rochester, Mich., last weekend, picking up a 3-1 win over North Carolina on Friday before falling to host Oakland, 3-1, on Saturday. The RedHawks' offense is led by Gaby Harper's 2.94 kills/set to go with 3.06 digs/set. Avarie Powell is the team's leading blocker with 0.81 blocks/set while Morgan Seaman (5.36 assists/set) and Louise Comerford (5.15 assists/set) split setting duties.
Scouting Ohio State
Ohio State (4-5) went 1-2 at Western Kentucky's Holiday Inn – University Plaza Invitational Sept. 13-14 after falling to Tulane and host WKU Friday. OSU wrapped the weekend with a straight-set win over Bowling Green Saturday. The Buckeyes' Mia Grunze averages 3.77 kills/set and Elle Sandbothe stuffs 0.87 blocks/set. Mac Podraza is the team's leading setter with 10.36 assists/set and Kylie Murr passes 5.41 digs/set for the Buckeyes.
Scouting Illinois State
Illinois State (7-2) had its five-match winning streak broken Saturday with a 3-2 loss to seventh-ranked Marquette in the finale of the Redbird Classic after knocking off No. 14 Illinois, 3-1, and RVCentral Florida, 3-2. Kaylee Martin is the team's leading attacker with 3.78 kills/set and Kendal Meier is the squad's leading passer with 4.14 digs/set. Sydney Holly is tough at the net with 1.22 blocks/set and Stef Jankiewicz is the RedBirds' primary setter with 10.22 assists/set.

Tim Horsmon is in his 11th season overall, and sixth since 2007, as head coach of the Flyers in 2019. His record at Dayton is 266-78 and his career win-loss mark sits at 442-242 in 20 seasons as a head coach. Horsmon is the program's second-winningest coach behind only R. Elaine Dreidame who amassed 310 wins 1970-79.
• Over the last 10 seasons (2009-2018), the Flyers have recorded a 130-12 (.916) mark in regular season Atlantic 10 Conference play, including a perfect 14-0 mark in 2016, 2015 and 2012 and a 15-0 record in 2010. UD suffered only one conference loss in 2017, 2014, 2011 and 2009.
• Dayton made its 19th-consecutive and 22nd overall appearance in the Atlantic 10 Championship in 2018. The Flyers have reached conference post-season play every year they have been a member of the A-10 except 1995 and 1999. UD holds a 27-10 record in league tournaments.

• With two wins at the 2014 Bowling Green Hampton Inn Invitational, Dayton surpassed the 1,000-win mark as a program to become just the 13th NCAA DI team to attain that level of success. The Flyers currently rank 13th all-time in the Division I record book with an overall program tally of 1,136-595 (.656) over 50 seasons (1970).
• The Flyers finished the 2018 season with a 23-7 overall record and a 12-2 Atlantic 10 mark, finishing in second place in regular-season league play. 2018 is the program's 40th winning season and its 31st 20-win season.
Series Stuff
Miami (Ohio): UD leads 22-13. Dayton and Miami have already squared off once this season with the Flyers picking up a 3-0 win over the RedHawks at Millett Hall. UD has won six consecutive matches in the series.
Ohio State: OSU leads 13-11. Last season Dayton held on for a 3-2 win over visiting Ohio State in front of a then-record-breaking crowd at Frericks Center on Sept. 15, 2018. Prior to last season's win for the Flyers, the Buckeyes had claimed seven straight wins in the series.
Illinois State: ISU leads 5-3. The pair last squared off on Sept. 18, 2017 in Redbird Arena as Illinois State downed Dayton in straight sets.
