Huntington, West Virginia – The University of Dayton men's golf team is starting up the fall season this week. As they come into this fall season, the Flyers are bringing back most of their team that competed in the 2018-2019 season.
Going into the fall season, Coach
Gip Hoagland said, "As Coach, I am looking for stability and continual improvement on a daily basis. We have five events this fall and obviously one goal is to win as many events as we can. The only way that happens is to focus on the little things every day! So far, the team as looks great all throughout qualifying and practices. They are showing that they put in a lot of work over the summer to get better and to be prepared when the season starts. They are definitely pushing each other to be better which, as a coach, it's something you always want to see. Flyer fans Should expect to see a lot of low scores! This team, even though young, is very experienced. We have many players capable of going low at any given time. I'm very excited to see how the fall plays out! We have added two excellent young players to go along with a very strong nucleus. Our fall schedule is very solid as we get to play some great facilities as well. As always, we will be extremely excited to host our fall invitational at NCR country club's south course later in October."
When asked about his expectations for the fall season,
Domenic Maricocchi said, "Flyer Fans should expect a lot of fight from the Men's Golf team this year. We pride ourselves on never giving up and keeping ourselves in the fight by figuring out how to put up the lowest score possible even when we don't have our A game. We will always be ready to play and ready for the moment when it comes to us to win. Our goal is to win the A10 tournament at the end of the year and I know we can do that if we play like we know how." He went on to say, "As a senior this year I am really looking develop our young team into the great players they can truly be. We have a fall schedule that will allow us to compete in every event we play in and I want to see us get a couple high finishes and even a win to prove to the guys that we are good and have that attitude carry over into the spring season. I am really looking forward to accomplishing our goals and proving to Coach and the rest of the A-10 that we are the real deal."
The team is starting their 2019-2020 campaign in Huntington, West Virginia at the Joe Feaganes Invitational on Monday, September 9. The 54-hole event will be held at the Guyan Golf and Country Club.
