NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - University of Dayton sophomore
Jamie Peterson was named the Atlantic 10 Volleyball Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Sept. 9.
VCU senior Jasmin Sneed were selected as the Defensive Player of the Week and George Mason's Stephanie Der earned Rookie of the Week honors. The awards are for games played Sept. 2-8.
Peterson led the Dayton offense with 4.73 kills per set and 5.47 points per set as the Flyers posted a 3-1 mark this week. In Friday's straight-set win over Northern Illinois, the West Liberty, Ohio, native tallied 14 kills to zero errors in 26 attempts for a blistering .538 hitting percentage to go with eight digs, three assists and two service aces. In Saturday night's 3-2 win over No. 14 Michigan, Peterson collected a career-high 27 kills to go with 10 digs for her first double-double of the season. She also served up a career-high four aces in addition to setting a career-high six assists against the Wolverines.Â
Dayton returns to action this weekend with a trip to Springfield, Mo., for the Missouri State Fall Invitational Sept. 13-14. UD will square off against Southern Methodist, Kansas State and host Missouri State and the Bears' Hammons Student Center.
