COLUMBUS, Ohio – The University of Dayton men's tennis team dropped to 0-2 to start the season with a 5-0 loss to No. 6 Ohio State Wednesday at the OSU Varsity Tennis Center.

The Flyers faced three Top 30 ITA players when they took on the Buckeyes: #16 Cannon Kingsley, #24 John McNally, and #28 Kyle Seelig. UD's Matt DeMarco was up 5-4 in the second set on Seelig but the match was unfinished due to order of finish.

Steven Karl and Georgi Mavrodiev were also up 3-2 on McNalley and Kingsley in second doubles, but the Buckeyes claimed the doubles point with wins in No. 1 and No. 3 doubles before their match was finished.

"I was proud of the way we competed against some of the best players in the country," said UD Head Coach Ryan Meyer. "Steven and Georgi played tremendous doubles. Matt had chances to take the second set against a top ranked senior. This experience will do nothing but help us long term."

Dayton returns to action Jan. 24 in its home opener vs. Toledo at 7 p.m. at the South Regency Tennis Center in Miamisburg, Ohio.
