Women’s Basketball Adds Duo To Program

Head Coach Shauna Green Welcomes Brynn Shoup-Hill And Shannon Wheeler

DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's basketball team and head coach Shauna Green have announced the signing of Shannon Wheeler and Brynn Shoup-Hill.

"Both Brynn and Shannon fit our culture both on the court and off," Green stated. "They are people who want to be elite both on the basketball floor and in the classroom. They are going to be great players and I cannot wait to have them here."

Shannon Wheeler – 6-2 Forward – Renaissance High School - Detroit, Mich.
Wheeler is a native of Detroit, Mich. where she has had an outstanding career so far at Renaissance High School. The 6-2 forward earned All-State Honorable Mention and All-City Second Team accolades as a junior, as well as All-City Third Team as a freshman and sophomore. Wheeler led her team to two District and two City Championships in 2018 and 2020. She received 2020 Academic All-State honors and has been a member of the honor roll all three years.

"I am so excited that Shannon will be joining our Flyer family," said Coach Green. "She is someone who has the ability to play multiple positions. Her length and athleticism is something we need and I truly believe she is only going to get better. Shannon has a great work ethic and plays with a high motor which will benefit our program."

Brynn Shoup-Hill – 6-3 Forward – Goshen High School - Goshen, Indiana
Shoup-Hill joins the Flyers after a standout career at Goshen High School where she earned All-State Third Team honors the past two seasons, as well as Indiana Junior All-Star Selection in 2020. She has been named All-Conference and team MVP three years in a row while serving as team captain. Shoup-Hill also received IBCA Coaches Large School Underclassman All-State accolades and Honorable Mention twice. She holds numerous school records while totaling 922 points, 653 rebounds, and 278 blocks in 70 games over three seasons. She has been just a productive in the classroom, earning Scholar Athlete honors as well as Academic All-State for volleyball.

"We are super excited to have Brynn joining our Flyer family," said Coach Green. "She is a post player that can step out and hit the 3 with consistency. Her size and versatility are what we love in our bigs and she fits that mold perfectly. Brynn is a worker who is going to continue to improve and I can't wait to have her here."

The Flyers were picked second in the 2020-21 A-10 preseason poll after sweeping both the regular season and tournament titles last year. Dayton was 25-8 overall, 15-1 in A-10 play, and earned their 13th consecutive postseason berth.
