DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team is set to head to Texas this weekend to take part in the Houston Classic Feb. 14-16. The three-day event will feature match-ups against No. 21 Oregon, Oregon State and host Houston.

About Dayton
Dayton (2-3) opened the 2020 season at the Mercer Invitational last weekend, picking up wins over Wright State and host Mercer. The Flyers knocked out six home runs over their first five games, including three from sophomore Abby Ehrenborg. Senior Mallory Kimmell carries the team's best average of .500 while Ehrenborg's seven hits leads the squad. Freshamn Sarah Bailitz worked a complete game in her first career outing last Friday and tallied 11 Ks on the weekend for UD.

In the NCAA's final Rating Percentage Index (RPI) for the 2019 season, Dayton came in at 191 according to NCAA.com. Opponents: Houston 40, Oregon 64, Oregon State 42.

Junior Abby Ehrenborg set a new Dayton single-season RBI mark in 2019 with 49 and she currently ranks seventh all-time with 87 career RBI. For the season, Erhrenborg has knocked in four runs on seven hits.

Three Strikes You're Out
Senior right-handed pitcher Jessica Weaver broke into the Dayton top 10 for career strikeouts at the end of last season. For her career, Weaver has struck out 182 batters, ranking her 10th all-time in program history.

She's Going the Distance
Junior right-handed pitcher Olivia Lessmann tossed her first career complete game Feb. 9 versus Tulsa at the Mercer Invitational. In 7.0 innings of work, Lessmann allowed four earned runs while striking out two to zero walks.

Dayton head coach Cara LaPlaca tallied her 233rd career win at UD on April 15, 2017 at La Salle, surpassing former Flyer head coach Jodi Eickemeyer as Dayton's all-time winningest coach. She now has 296 wins at UD. Notable - coach LaPlaca currently has 427 overall career wins as a head coach.
