Baseball Drops Opener At Memphis

Flyers Will Return For Game Two Tomorrow

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Dayton baseball team opened the weekend with a 7-2 loss to Memphis on Friday at FedExPark.

The Flyers fall to 3-2 on the young season with the loss.

Coach's Corner
Head coach Jayson King said he saw opportunities for the Flyers in the beginning stages of the game.

"We had chances to break the game open early and didn't," head coach Jayson King said. "They capitalized on our many mistakes which good teams will do."

On the Mound
Hunter Wolfe continued his strong start to the season on the mound allowing just one hit over five innings to go along with a strikeout and an unearned run.

Justin Longbrake entered for Wolfe in the sixth and gave up three straight hits before being relieved by Jonathan Brus. Brus also gave up a hit and R.J. Wagner entered and did not give up a hit, but gave up two unearned runs in two-thirds of an inning.

Bryce Hellgeth entered and gave up one hit over 1.1 innings before Andrew Zapka entered and threw a scoreless ninth.

With Jay Curtis at the plate, a pitch got past the catcher, scoring Howell and putting Dayton on the board.

Top 3: (2-0 Flyers)
