MIAMIABURG, Ohio – The University of Dayton women's tennis team fell to SIUE on Sunday in the team's home opener 6-1.

The Flyers opened the match dropping the doubles point. Sophomores Paige Kompa and Elizabeth Hamilton took down the pair of Jill Lambrechts and Jordan Schifano for SIUE in No. 1 doubles 6-4. The Cougars took down UD in the other two doubles matches to give SIUE a 1-0 lead.

Sophomore Erica Wojcikiewicz evened the score at 1-1 in No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-0 over SIUE's Melissa Vizcardo. Freshman Sarah DeMarco and junior Natalie Stanton both fell in their Dayton debuts in No. 5 and No. 6 singles, while senior Kelly Pleiman and Hamilton came up short in their matches. Kompa forced Lambrechts of the Cougars to a tiebreak in the first set of No. 1 singles, but dropped in two sets as well.
