Connor Bruce sent the Flyers into the spring season with an undefeated event, winning the singles Main Draw of the Viking Invitational, taking down Xavier's Diego Nava in straight sets.

Bruce went 5-0 in the three-day event in singles play and began Sunday with a semifinal matchup against Maxime Mareshal-Hay of Cleveland State. The junior took the match in straight sets to set up the championship match against Nava, which also ended with a straight-set victory for the Pittsburgh, Pa., native, 6-0, 6-3.

In his five matches, Bruce won four in straight sets and a fifth by walkover as he made his way through the 47-player field over the weekend.

Sophomore
Ronit Hiryur also finished the event with a pair of wins in the Back Draw of the Viking Invitational. Hiryur opened Sunday with a win over Xavier's Charlie Temming in three sets 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 before finishing with a win over Juandedios Abboud of Cleveland State 6-2, 5-7, 1-0.
