DAYTON - University of Dayton men's soccer junior
Andy Sanchez and women's tennis junior
Erica Wojcikiewicz have been named the
Ohio's CollegeAdvantage Student-Athletes of the Week for contests during the week of Sept. 27-Oct. 3.
A native of Weston, Florida, Sanchez led the Flyers with four points last week as they faced No. 10 Kentucky and UMass, with a goal and two assists. The junior midfielder recorded an assist on Dayton's lone goal against the ranked Wildcats on Wednesday. Sanchez then went on to score the game-tying goal and assisted the game-winning goal in the 4-2 victory over UMass Saturday night, the Flyers' first league win.
Wojcikiewicz, a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native, picked up three victories at the Butler Invitational in Indianapolis between singles and doubles play. On the first day of the event, she defeated Butler's Delaney Schurhamer in straight sets 6-1, 6-0. The junior followed that up on Sunday, pairing with
Laura Greb to defeat IUPUI's Meghan Bernard and Samantha Hayward 6-4 before picking up another straight-set win over Western Kentucky's Taylor Shaw in singles play 6-2, 6-3.
Each week we will recognize Dayton student-athletes throughout the end of the school year.
