DAYTON - The University of Dayton volleyball team will play host to Davidson and Saint Louis in Atlantic 10 Conference action this weekend. The Flyers and Wildcats are set to square off at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9 and UD will match-up against SLU Sunday, Oct. 10 at 1 p.m. as well.

Dayton (11-5, 5-0 A-10) won a four-set battle against VCU on Thursday, 3-1, at Frericks Center including a 38-36 win in set two. Flyer senior

Scouting Davidson
After opening the 2021 conference season with a 3-1 loss to Saint Louis, Davidson (8-7, 4-1 A-10) has won four-consecutive matches heading into the weekend. The Wildcats' contest against the Flyers will be its first A-10 road match-up this season. DC's offense is led by Hattie Rodriguez with 3.69 kills/set (3rd A-10) while Sola Omonije carries a .275 hitting percentage (8th A-10). On defense, Anela Davis collects 1.02 blocks/set (7th A-10) and Bella Brady gets under a league-best 5.67 digs/set.
Scouting Saint Louis
Saint Louis (11-6, 4-0 A-10) is currently enjoying a six-match winning streak, including its first four Atlantic 10 match-ups. The Billikens are set to play the Dukes of Duquesne in Pittsburgh on Friday. SLU's Maya Taylor leads the team with 3.92 kills/set (2nd A-10) and Jillian Mattingly boasts the A-10's best hitting percentage (.404). Mattingly also leads the team at the net with 1.19 blocks/set (2nd A-10) and Carlie Rodgers passes4.22 digs/set (5th A-10).

Davidson: Dayton leads, 11-0
Dayton has won all 11 match-ups between the Flyers and Wildcats in a series that dates back to Oct. 3, 2014. All but one of those 11 wins has come in the form of a straight-set victory.
Saint Louis: Dayton leads, 42-17
Dayton and Saint Louis first squared off in 1978 and played four times during the COVID-19-shortened 2020 season (played during the spring of 2021). The Flyers have won three straight and 19 of the last 20 meetings.
RPI Rankings
In the NCAA's most recent Rating Percentage Index (RPI) for the 2021 season (Oct. 3), Dayton ranked 67th according to NCAA.com. Davidson came in at 194th and Saint Louis was rated 132nd.
Hausfeld Court
Former Flyer Kacie Hausfeld passed away tragically in an airplane crash during her time as a Dayton Flyer. In her memory, her family made a substantial contribution to the Dayton volleyball program. That donation enabled the program to renovate Frericks Center, adding a new public address and sound system, new seating on the event level, new scoreboards and video boards and the playing surface was named "Hausfeld Court" among many other improvements to the facility.

Tim Horsmon is in his 13th season overall, and eighth since 2007, as head coach of the Flyers in 2021. His record at Dayton is 308-89 and his career win-loss mark sits at 484-253 in 23 seasons as a head coach. Horsmon is the program's second-winningest coach behind only R. Elaine Dreidame who amassed 310 wins 1970-79.
• Over the last 13 seasons (2009-2021), the Flyers have recorded a 156-14 (.918) mark in regular season Atlantic 10 Conference play, including a perfect 14-0 mark in 2016, 2015 and 2012 and a 15-0 record in 2010. UD suffered only one conference loss in 2020, 2019, 2017, 2014, 2011 and 2009.
