DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team will remain at home for the third straight game to open the season, hosting the University of Toledo on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 11 a.m. at UD Arena. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton enters the week with a 1-1 record overall after defeating Alabama A&M in the season opener and falling to a talented Duke team last Friday. The Flyers have played both games at home this season with Toledo wrapping-up a three game home stretch.
Head coach
Shauna Green is in her sixth season in charge of the Flyers and was named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year 2020, her second time at UD. She earned her 100th win at Dayton in the regular season final last year.
As a team this year, Dayton is scoring 64.5 points per game while holding opponents to 61.0 points. The Flyers are shooting 41.3 percent overall, 38.5 percent from three point range, and 73.1 percent from the free throw line. UD is facing a -1.0 rebounding margin, but is commiting fewer turnovers.

Makira Cook with 20.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, while grad student
Jenna Giacone is adding 15.5 points and 5.5 boards per contest. Fellow grad student
Erin Whalen is the other double-digit scorer with 14.5 points each outing.
SCOUTING TOLEDO
Toledo comes to Dayton with an unbeaten record of 2-0, holding wins over Oakland and UD neighbor Wright State already this season. The Rockets are coming off two wins at the end of last year, pushing their streak to four straight.
Veteran head coach Tricia Cullop is in her 14th season with the Rockets, who have hung eight postseason banners in her time at UT. She holds a career-record of 392-262.
This season, Toledo is averaging 78.5 points per game and allowing just 64.0 points to opposing squads. The Rockets are shooting 30.8 percent from the field, 65.9 percent from behind the arc, and 65.9 percent from the charity stripe. UT benefits from a +3.5 turnover margin.
Toledo is led by Quinesha Lockett, who is averaging 23.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, and Jessica Cook, who is contributing 17.5 points and 11.5 boards each contest. Sophia Ward is the main facilitator with 5.5 assists to go with 11.5 points per outing.
LAST TIME OUT
Dayton suffered a tough 70-56 loss at home to Duke Friday night, despite leading in the third quarter.
Makira Cook led UD with 18 points, but it was not enough as the Blue Devils hit eight more threes than the Flyers.
Toledo kept its winning streak alive with a 73-56 pounding of Wright State at home Saturday. The Rockets outscored the Raiders 41-22 in the first half and never looked back as Jessica Cook had a 19-point, 12-rebound double-double and Quinesha Lockett had a team-high 23 points.
THE SERIES
Dayton and Toledo have faced off 26 times previously with the Flyers holding a 15-11 win advantage over the Rockets. UD has a two-game winning streak against UT, last playing on Nov. 9, 2019 as the Flyers won in overtime on the road, 60-42.
STATISTICAL RANKINGS
Through two games this season, Dayton ranks 52nd in the country in three point field goal percentage and 53rd in turnovers per game. Individually,
Erin Whalen is tied for the nation lead in free throw percentage at a perfect 1.000.
Makira Cook is 31st in field goals made and 56th in points per game.
FLYERS FAVORITE IN PRESEASON POLL
Dayton was picked to as preseason favorites after winning the A-10 regular season in 2020-21. The Flyers received 11 first-place votes and were selected ahead of Rhode Island, Fordham, Saint Louis, and VCU.

FLYERS DOMINATE IN EXHIBITION
The Flyers had one preseason game this year on Nov. 5 at home where they defeated IUP 83-46. Dayton had five players in double-figures scoring and shot 61.2 percent from the field, higher than any total the previous season.
