WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The University of Dayton volleyball team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the ninth time in program history with a 3-1 (25-20, 25-21, 24-26, 25-23) win over Marquette Thursday. The First Round match was played at Purdue's Holloway Gymnasium, Dayton's first contest since winning the Atlantic 10 Championship on Nov. 21.
Dayton improves to 26-5 on the season while Marquette ends 2021 with a 26-6 overall mark.

• .765 - with 13 kills to zero errors in 17 attempts, freshman
Alayna Yates set a new program record for a NCAA Tournament single-match hitting percentage
• 21 & 15 - freshman
Lexie Almodovar led all attackers with 21 kills to go with 15 digs for her ninth double-double of the season
• 16 - senior
Maura Collins got under a match-high 16 digs
• 12 - senior
Jamie Peterson was the third Flyer in double-digit kills with 12
• 7 - sophomore
Amelia Moore led the Flyer block with seven stuffs to go with seven kills
• 50 - sophomore
Livie Sandt tallied 50 assists, her seventh match of the season with 45 or more assists
UP NEXT
Host sixth-seeded Purdue put away Illinois State, 3-0, Thursday night to also advance to the Second Round. Dayton and Purdue will square off at 5 p.m. at the Boilermakers' Holloway Gymnasium with a trip to the regional semifinals on the line. The match will be streamed live via ESPN+.
