DAYTON – The University of Dayton men's tennis team will compete in the team's home opener this weekend, hosting two matches at South Regency Tennis Center in Miamisburg. The Flyers will take on Youngstown State on Friday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. and Marquette on Sunday, Feb. 14 at 10 a.m.
 
UD will return home for the first time since defeating Indiana Tech on March 8, 2020. Dayton had success at South Regency in the shortened campaign, with a 5-4 record in home matches.
 
The Flyers have not competed since Feb. 3, when they fell in two matches at Kentucky. Youngstown State's gap in play stretches to Jan. 31, when they lost to North Dakota. The Penguins are 0-2 this season after also falling at Northern Illinois the day before. The team has been led by Vasilis Vardakis. The senior from Greece is 2-0 in No. 1 singles.
 
Marquette will be playing away from Milwaukee for the first time this season as well, playing for the first time since Jan. 30. The Golden Eagles are coming off two victories at home against IUPUI and sit at 2-2 in 2021. Nikola Kijac sits with a 3-1 record in his freshman season for Marquette, going a combined 3-0 at No. 3 and No. 4 singles. Fran San Andres and Luis Heredia Gomez each have a 1-0 record in No. 1 singles as well for the Golden Eagles.
