ST. LOUIS - The University of Dayton volleyball team splits its matches at Saint Louis Saturday on the Flyers' first day of play this season. SLU claimed a 3-2 (25-16, 25-23, 24-26, 23-25, 15-11) win in the first match while Dayton answered with a straight-set victory (25-17, 25-16, 25-16) in the nightcap.
After today's matches, Dayton is now 1-1 on the season and 0-1 in Atlantic 10 Conference action while Saint Louis moves to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in league play.
MATCH ONE
Saint Louis 3, Dayton 2
• Saint Louis came out firing on all cylinders, making quick work of set one, 25-16
• The Flyers rallied to even the match at two sets apiece before falling in the fifth, 15-11
• Dayton was led by junior
Jamie Peterson with a match-high 23 kills, one of three Flyers in double-digit kills

Amelia Moore equaled her career high with 13 kills and tallied six blocks, freshman
Lexie Almodovar recorded 16 kills in her first outing as a Flyer

• Saint Louis was led by Emily Henken and Maya Taylor with 14 kills each
MATCH TWO
Dayton 3, Saint Louis 0
• The Flyers bounced back in game two with a straight-set win over the Billikens
• As a team, Dayton out-hit Saint Louis .393 to .084 and tallied 10.0 team blocks to SLU's 1.0
• Peterson led all attackers with 16 kills while swinging at .433 to go with five blocks, four digs and three service aces
• Freshman
Alayna Yates recorded a career-high nine blocks to lead Dayton at the net
• Saint Louis was led by Taylor in the second game with 14 kills
KEY STATS
• For the day, Peterson averaged 4.88 kills/set while hitting at .345 and posted 0.75 blocks/set
• Almodovar was the team's second-best attacker with 2.75 kills/set
• Yates recorded 2.17 blocks/set for the day and Doherty set 9.62 assists/set
• As a team, UD tallied 104 total kills to SLU's 79

Dayton is set to travel to Richmond, Virginia, next Friday for a single game against A-10 rival VCU. First serve at the Rams' Siegel Center is set for 1 p.m.
