JOHNS CREEK, Ga. - The University of Dayton women's golf team's two-round dual match at Georgia State was cut short after 18 holes Monday due to rain and cold temperatures. After completing one round, Georgia State claimed the win over Dayton with its team score of 316 (+28).
The match was played at Rivermont Golf Club at par 72 and 6,075 yards. Dayton was led by senior
Abby Bitto with a score of 84 (+12) as she finished in fifth place.
"This was our first competition in nearly a year so we did not know what to expect," said head coach
Sally Kosters following today's round. "I was pleased that our long game was solid which is a testament to the indoor practice this winter. Rivermont Golf Club is a beautiful and challenging course, especially the greens, right on par with NCR South Course and Pinehurst. That made putting the key to scoring and we were rusty there. What I saw from the team was encouraging and we're going to have a great season."
All three freshman team members were able to get their first collegiate round under their belts.
