DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team remains in Philadelphia to take on La Salle University Sunday at 12 p.m. at Tom Gola Arena.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton is one of the hottest teams in the country right now with an eight-game winning streak and a 9-1 record overall. The Flyers sit atop the Atlantic 10 standings with an 8-0 mark and are 6-0 on the road this season.

Shauna Green is in her fifth season in charge of the Flyers and was named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year last season, her second time at UD.
As a team, the Flyers are averaging 63.7 points per game and holding opponents to 52.4 points each outing. Dayton is shooting 42.0 percent overall, 33.1 percent from three point range, and 67.8 percent from the free throw line. The Flyers have a +9.4 rebounding margin, but have to overcome a -2.1 turnover margin.

Jenna Giacone, who are scoring 12.9 and 12.7 points per game respectively. Freshman
Tenin Magassa is contributing 8.6 points and 5.9 rebounds off the bench as well.
SCOUTING LA SALLE
La Salle hosts Dayton with a 9-9 record on the season and 5-6 A-10 mark. The Explorers are 5-5 at home this season and have won four of their last six games.
Head coach Mountain MacGillivray is in his third season at La Salle.
This year, the Explorers are scoring 63.7 points per game to match the Flyers, but are giving up 65.5 points to opposing teams. La Salle is shooting 37.4 percent from the floor, 30.7 percent from behind the arc, and 71.9 percent from the charity stripe. The Explorers are committing fewer turnovers at a +3.1 margin, but are being outrebounded by almost 10 a game.
Leading La Salle is Claire Jacobs at 15.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per game while Kayla Spruill is adding 13.6 points and 5.1 boards per game as well.
LAST TIME OUT
Dayton defeated Saint Joseph's Friday night 55-43 thanks to outscoring the host Hawks 16-7 in the third quarter. Giacone had a team-high 15 points while Bradshaw had 13 points and seven boards.
La Salle lost at home to Saint Louis Friday 72-65 after allowing the Billikens to shot 47.5 percent from the field. The Explorers had four players in double digits, but it was not enough as La Salle lost its second in three games. Â
THE SERIES
Dayton and La Salle have played 39 times previously with the Flyers winning 23 times and the Explorers winning 16 times. UD has won four straight including last year's contest on Jan. 4 in Philadelphia, 98-58.
STATISTICAL RANKINGS
This season the Flyers rank fifth nationally in field goal percentage defense and 10th in scoring defense. UD is also 16th in blocked shots per game, 20th in defensive rebounds per game, and 20th in rebounding margin. Individually,
Tenin Magassa is ninth in the country in blocked shots per game while
Araion Bradshaw is 23rd in assist to turnover ratio.
WHALEN JOINS 1,000-POINT CLUB IN CAREER
On Jan. 14 against Davidson, redshirt senior surpassed the 1,000-point mark in her career, two years at Dayton and two years at Vanderbilt University. She scored 19 points in the win to achieve that milestone.
MAGASSA NAMED A-10 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Freshman center
Tenin Magassa was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week on Jan. 18 after having a breakout performance with 19 points on 9-of-12 shooting, seven rebounds, and five blocks in the win over Davidson. It was the first accolade for the France native on the season.
COOK NAMED A-10 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Dayton freshman
Makira Cook was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week on Jan. 4 after averaging 11.0 points and shooting 61.5 percent from the field. She highlighted the week with an 18-point performance against St. Bonaventure.
PRESEASON POLL
Dayton was picked to finish second in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll behind conference favorites VCU and ahead of Saint Louis, Davidson, Duquesne, and Fordham. The Flyers received two first-place votes.

The Atlantic 10 released its preseason all-conference teams and recognized a trio of Flyers. Redshirt senior
Erin Whalen earned First Team honors while fellow redshirt senior
Araion Bradshaw was named Third Team and All-Defensive Team. Junior
Kyla Whitehead joined Bradshaw on the Third Team as well.
THREE POINTS OF EXCELLENCE
Dayton has hit at least one three-point shot in 611 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 2, 2001, the longest streak in the Atlantic 10 Conference and one of the top streaks in the nation. The Flyers made a program-record 15 three-point field goals against Buffalo in the Connecticut World Vision Classic on Nov. 25, 2011. Dayton tied the record with 15 vs. Wright State on Nov. 28, 2012.
OFF TO A HOT START
Dayton has found much success under Coach Green in the month of January, going 34-2 in her first five seasons as head coach of the Flyers. That includes going undefeated in four of her five seasons.
