DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team is on its way to Murfreesboro, Tenn., to take part in the MTSU Invitational this weekend. The Flyers will play a total of five games March 12-14 at Blue Raider Softball. Dayton is set to square off against Illinois State, North Dakota State and host Middle Tennessee.

SCOUTING THE FIELD
• Illinois State (8-3) went 5-1 last weekend at the FAU Tournament, with its only loss coming against No. 10/11 Kentucky. The Redbirds have had 10 games canceled this season, all due to inclement weather, but have still been able to get in 11 contests heading into the weekend. ISU's Mack Leonard was named the MVC Player of the Week on Tuesday after posting a .520 average on the strength of 13 hits.
• Middle Tennessee (6-8) went 4-2 weekend at The Spring Games last week and the Blue Raiders currently rank second in C-USA and 32nd nationally in stolen bases per game at 1.79. The Blue Raiders' Summer Burgess is the reigning Conference USA Hitter of the Week and she ranks second on the team with 5-for-5 stolen bases.
• North Dakota State (2-8) closed out the Ole Miss Classic with a 4-3, eight-inning win over Samford after dropping two games apiece to Indiana State and host Ole Miss. Madyson Camacho has started all 10 games for the Bison and carries a team-best .344 average with a team-high 11 hits.

Dayton (3-4) hosted Bowling Green Wednesday afternoon for its first home game of the season and the Falcons held on for the 6-5 win over the Flyers. The pair were supposed to play two but the second game was suspended due to darkness in the third. Senior
Abby Ehrenborg was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week while sophomore
Sarah Bailitz claimed Pitcher of the Week honors in the league's first weekly honors this season which were announced on Tuesday. UD has four players hitting above .300 including sophomore
Emily Daniel (.381) who went 3-for-4 at the plate against Bowling Green. Ehrenborg has knocked out four home runs and collected nine RBI while freshmen
Megan Ward has tallied a team-best nine hits. In the circle, junior
Kelsey Gumm holds the team's low ERA of 1.11 over 6.1 innings of work in three appearances.
UP NEXT
Dayton is set to play two games at Kentucky on March 20. The doubleheader is set to get underway at 2 p.m. in Lexington at UK's John Cropp Stadium.
