DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's tennis team took down West Virginia State 5-2 on Saturday at Graul Tennis Complex on Dayton's campus.

The Flyers improve to 5-8 on the season with the win and did so despite dropping the doubles point. Senior
Kelly Pleiman and freshman
Sarah DeMarco pulled off the win in No. 3 doubles 6-4, but UD came up just short in two other matches and fell behind 1-0.

Dayton roared back in singles play, taking five of the six matches to take the match. Sophomore
Erica Wojcikiewicz took No. 2 singles in straight sets, as did junior
Claire Ghidotti in No. 5 singles and junior
Natalie Stanton in the sixth singles flight.

Elizabeth Hamilton dropped the first set, but won the next two to take No. 3 singles and Pleiman followed suit after dropping set one to take the next two and give the Flyers a 5-2 victory over the Yellow Jackets.

The Flyers will head to Cincinnati on Wednesday for a midweek contest against the Bearcats. The match is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. at Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center.
