MIAMISBURG, Ohio – The University of Dayton women's tennis team fell in the team's first conference match of 2021 to Duquesne on Friday afternoon 5-2.
 
The Flyers fall to 5-10 on the season with the loss. Sophomores 
Paige Kompa and 
Elizabeth Hamilton won as a doubles pair for the ninth time this season, taking No. 1 doubles 6-4, but Dayton fell in the other two doubles flights to fall behind 1-0.
 
Dayton took two matches in singles play, with sophomore 
Erica Wojcikiewicz taking No. 2 singles in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. Senior 
Kelly Pleiman also took the win in the fifth singles flight. UD stayed in the match, with three matches that Duquesne took in singles play going the full three sets. Kompa, Hamilton, and freshman 
Sarah DeMarco each fell in three sets on Friday.
 
UD will return on Sunday to take on Saint Louis with the match beginning after the conclusion of the 10 a.m. men's tennis match, also against SLU at South Regency Tennis Center.
