MUNCIE, Ind. –The University of Dayton men's tennis team fell on Thursday afternoon at Ball State 5-2.

The loss snaps a five-match winning streak for the Flyers and puts the overall record for UD at 5-5 in 2021. Dayton started the match strong taking the doubles point behind wins at No. 1 doubles from sophomores
Connor Bruce and
Max DeCurtins and in the third doubles flight from senior
Steven Karl and sophomore
Matt DeMarco 6-2 giving Dayton a 1-0 lead in the match.

Ball State made it tough on the Flyers in singles play, with Dayton dropping five of the six flights. Bruce and Karl each fell in straight sets in No. 1 and No. 2 singles, while sophomore
Georgi Mavrodiev fell in the first set before falling in a tiebreak in set two in No. 3 singles. Freshman
Erik Eliasson took the first set in the fourth singles flight before dropping the next two and DeMarco lost in the No. 5 singles flight as well.

Will Harper represented the lone singles victory for the Flyers, knocking off Parish Simmons of Ball State in straight sets 6-1, 6-4.

Dayton will return home for a Friday contest with Eastern Illinois at South Regency Tennis Center in Miamisburg. That match is slated to begin at 12 p.m.
