MIAMISBURG, Ohio – The University of Dayton men's tennis team shut out Eastern Illinois in a 4-0 victory on Friday.

The win puts the Flyers back over .500, with a 6-5 record and pushes the team's record in home matches up to 6-0 in 2021.

Dayton opened the match by taking the doubles point. Sophomores
Max DeCurtins and
Connor Bruce took down EIU's No. 1 doubles pair 6-4 and redshirt senior
Steven Karl and sophomore
Matt DeMarco took the No. 3 doubles flight to take an early 1-0 lead over the Panthers.

UD continued that into singles play, not dropping any sets as a team. Bruce finished off a 2-0 day with a win in No. 1 singles over Daniel Hernandez. Freshman
Erik Eliasson, the reigning Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week continued Dayton's strong effort with a straight-set win in No. 4 singles and DeMarco finished off the 4-0 sweep with a straight-set victory in No. 5 singles.

The Flyers will travel to Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Club in Cincinnati on Friday, March 12th to face Xavier at 6 P.M.
