ABOUT DAYTON
The 2021 season kicked off on Feb. 12 but the Flyers have only been able to play two games. Dayton (0-2) saw its doubleheader against NC Central cancelled at USC Upstate due to weather and poor field conditions on Feb. 13 and a three-game set at Belmont was cancelled for similar reasons Feb. 20-21. The Flyers' game against the Knights Saturday morning will be the squad's first action in three weeks. Over UD's first two games, sophomore
Grace Gressly and freshman
Megan Ward posted a .333 average, each tallying two hits including Gressly's first career home run as a Flyer. Sophomore right-handed pitcher
Sarah Bailitz worked 4.0 innings in her start against USC Upstate, allowing zero earned runs and striking out four.
SCHEDULE UPDATE
Dayton has added a doubleheader against in-state foe Bowling Green to its 2021 schedule. The two-game set will now serve as UD's home opener on March 10. First pitch between the Flyers and Falcons is set for 3 p.m. at UD Softball Stadium.Â
Based on campus and local COVID-19 protocols and capacity restrictions, Dayton home athletic events will not be open to the general public. Limited seating is available to guests of Dayton student-athletes (names must be on a pass list for admission). Currently, visiting team fans are not permitted in/at the facility. Additionally, attendance at Dayton home athletic events will be socially distanced and fans are required to wear masks. These protocols will be reviewed as the season progresses.
