LEXINGTON, Ky. - University of Dayton junior outside hitter Jamie Peterson has been named the American Volleyball Coaches Association's Midwest Region Player of the Year for the second-consecutive season. Head coach Tim Horsmon was honored as the region's Coach of the Year for the second time in his career (2014) and this is his third overall regional coach of the year award (Northeast Region, 2007).

Senior setter Bridget Doherty joins Peterson on the All-Midwest Region roster, her first career regional honor.

Peterson, the 2020 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year and A-10 Championship Most Outstanding Player, currently ranks 25th in all of NCAA DI with 4.33 kills/set and is fifth in the nation with 0.61 aces/set while carrying a .306 hitting percentage. She helped lead the team to the program's 14th A-10 Championship title and a 13-1 overall record this season. This is her second-consecutive appearance on the AVCA All-Midwest Region Team.

Doherty, the 2020 A-10 Setter of the Year and member of the A-10 Championship All-Tournament Team, is averaging a career-best 10.38 assists/set (2nd A-10) serving as the team's primary setter. She will be making her third appearance in the NCAA Tournament this week as Dayton is set to take on Towson in the First Round on Wednesday.

Horsmon, in his 12th season as Dayton's head coach, guided his team to a one-loss conference season and a 13-1 overall record including the program's third-consecutive and 15th overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2020-21.
