Men’s Soccer Wins Preseason Opener At IUPUI

The Flyers Scored Four Goals In The Victory

Indianapolis, Ind.  – The University of Dayton men's soccer team kicked off the 2021 preseason in style with a four-goal victory over IUPUI Tuesday evening.

The Flyers earned their first win of the season while the Jaguars followed up an 0-6 spring campaign with a home loss.

GAME RECAP
  • Dayton jumped out to an early lead with a goal in the fifth minute by senior Elias Harryson off the assist by sophomore Geni Kanyane.
  • Sophomore Michael Adedokun then doubled the Flyers' advantage with his first goal of the year on the assist by fellow sophomore Tyler Swanbeck in the 33rd minute.
  • IUPUI was able to get on the board with a goal of its own in the early stages of the second half with a converted penalty.
  • At the 59 minute mark, senior Jake Feiner put the Flyers back up two with an unassisted goal.
  • The Jaguars were able to keep within reach of Dayton after making it 3-2 on a goal in the 62nd minute.
  • Junior Forster Ajago made his Flyer debut and sealed the victory for UD with his goal at the 87th minute mark on the assist from junior Seth Antwi.
COACH'S COMMENTS
"Tonight provided a great opportunity to get the team back on the field and integrate some new players into our system," said head coach Dennis Currier. "We had some good moments and some areas of improvement that we will address in training so we can continue our growth."

UP NEXT
  • The Flyers will continue the preseason with an exhibition at home against Bellarmine on Friday, Aug. 20 at 7 p.m. at Baujan Field.
