Balanced Attack Leads to Dominant Victory for Women's Soccer

Taylor's Two Early Goals Pace Thriving Offense

KENT, OHIO – The University of Dayton women's soccer team rounded out it's short two-match road trip to open the season Sunday afternoon, putting on a dominating performance to beat the Kent State Golden Flashes by a final score of 5-0.

Sunday afternoon's victory for the Flyers marked their first time besting the Golden Flashes all-time, in just the third contest between the two sides. The Flyers received contributions from several players, including a second brace of the season for Marlee Taylor, and Noel Blain's first collegiate goal in just her second match.

KEY MOMENT
The Flyers wasted no time getting on the scoreboard Sunday afternoon, as Marlee Taylor netted her third goal of the young season just 5 minutes into the game, and added her fourth tally just 15 minutes later, giving Dayton a 2-0 lead early. Noel Blain's first of the season and of her Dayton career rounded out the scoring for the Flyers in half number one, taking a commanding lead into the locker room at 3-0. Jessica Sheldon would open the second half with an early goal, scoring just four minutes into the second stanza. Laney Huber closed the scoring for the evening in the 58th minute, and the defense slammed the door shut, not allowing a Kent State shot in the second half.

COACH'S COMMENT
"I am really proud of how the team performed today, and happy for them as their performance was rewarded with another good result on the road," commented head coach Eric Golz. "We maintained our composure, were much more efficient with our finishing, and we were able to manage the momentum with some well-executed and well-timed goals.  It was a good opening weekend, we look forward to building on it this week as we prepare for our home opener on Thursday night!"
