DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's tennis team continued the fall season with a 7-0 victory over Thomas More at Graul Tennis Complex on Sunday afternoon.

The Flyers improve to 2-0 on the season after a second-consecutive match without dropping a point. UD took every set from the Saints, who fall to 0-1 on the year.

"I was really happy with how the team competed today against Thomas More on a really hot day," head coach
Erica Echko said. "They did a good job across the board of not letting down after doubles and keeping their focus and energy up in singles to get the 7-0 win."

Dayton opened the day taking all three doubles flights, dropping just one point between the three pairs. Junior

Neena Katauskas took the match in No. 1 doubles over Dakota Schroeder and Cassie Saner of Thomas More. Junior
Erica Wojcikiewicz and freshman
Laura Greb followed that with a 6-0 win on Court Two and junior
Elizabeth Hamilton and freshman
Jordan Mitchell finished the doubles sweep with a 6-0 win in the third doubles flight.

UD carried that momentum into singles play, where Mitchell got it started with a 6-0, 6-1 victory on Court Six to make it 2-0 Dayton, with Katauskas extending the lead to three with a win by the same score in the top singles flight.

Senior
Claire Ghidotti clinched the match for the Flyers on Court Five with a 6-1, 6-0 victory in her first singles match of the season.

Wojcikiewicz made it 5-0 Dayton, knocking off Noelia Martinez Garcia 6-0, 6-2 in No. 2 singles play and Greb followed shortly after with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Cassie Saner in the fourth singles flight.

Kompa finished the afternoon for UD with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Kimberly Sabga in No. 3 singles to complete the shutout for Dayton.

Next up for the Flyers is the Xavier Invitational taking place Sept. 24-25 in Cincinnati.
