WASHINGTON, D.C. - The University of Dayton volleyball team defeated George Washington 3-1 (25-19, 25-20, 22-25, 25-18) in both teams' Atlantic 10 opener Friday night at GW's Smith Center. Freshman Lexie Almodovar led all attackers with 14 kills to go with a career-high five service aces in the Flyers win.

Dayton improves to 7-5 on the season and 1-0 in A-10 play while George Washington moves to 0-12 overall and 0-1 in league action.

KEY STATS
• 16 - as a team, Dayton recorded 16 service aces lead by Almodovar with a career-high five aces
• 14 - Almodovar posted double-digit kills for the eighth time this season
• 12 - freshman Alyssa Miller tallied a career-high 12 assists
• 12 - senior Maura Collins got under a team-high 12 digs
• 4 - the Flyers notched four solo blocks in the match including freshman Lia Hawken's first career solo block

On Saturday, Dayton will square off against Atlantic 10 foe George Mason in Fairfax, Virginia. First serve between the Flyers and Patriots is set for 5 p.m. Sept. 25 at Mason's Recreational Athletic Complete. The match will be available via live stats and ESPN+ live video stream.
