Women's Tennis Drops Sunday Match Against Cincinnati

Flyers Will Return Next Friday Against Northern Kentucky

DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's tennis team fell on Sunday morning to Cincinnati at South Regency Tennis Center in Miamisburg. The Flyers took three different matches into the third set, but lost by 7-0 to the Bearcats.

The Flyers fall to 2-3 on the season, while Cincinnati improves to 1-2 in 2022.

Dayton opened by dropping the doubles point to give UC a 1-0 lead. Junior Paige Kompa and freshman Neena Katauskas kept No. 1 doubles close, but fell 7-5 to Cassie McLay and Elizabeth Pendergast.

When the match moved into singles play, the Flyers again fell behind. Junior Erica Wojcikiewicz battled back after dropping the first set to take the second in No. 2 singles against Ioana Guna of UC before dropping the third set 10-7 in the tiebreak.

Fellow junior Elizabeth Hamilton also forced a third set in No. 3 singles against Cassie McLay, and freshman Laura Greb did the same on Court Five against Kelli Niehaus. Both Hamilton and Greb fell in the deciding set 10-4.

The Flyers will remain home for a match next Friday at 11 a.m. at South Regency Tennis Center in Miamisburg.
