MIAMISBURG, Ohio – The University of Dayton women's tennis team defeated Northern Kentucky 5-2 on Friday afternoon at South Regency Tennis Center. The Flyers won the doubles point as well as four different singles matchups.

"I'm super proud of our girls today," head coach
Erica Echko said. "It was a great team victory. We got off to a fast start in doubles and won a huge point at 5-4 after losing our 5-0 lead.
Sarah DeMarco and
Laura Greb stepped up and won 6-2 at third doubles, which was a spot we struggled with the first three matches.
Erica Wojcikiewicz had a tremendous clinch at two against a tough opponent and we're happy to beat NKU after losing the last four years."

Greb and DeMarco got the match started with their win on Court Three, marking the first time in 2022 No. 3 doubles has gone to the Flyers. Juniors
Elizabeth Hamilton and
Erica Wojcikiewicz clinched the doubles point with a win in No. 2 doubles to put Dayton ahead 1-0.

Senior
Claire Ghidotti continued the momentum for Dayton with a straight-set victory over Ananya Kothakota in No. 6 singles, winning 6-1, 6-1.

After NKU took the point on Court One, freshman
Laura Greb gave Dayton a third point with a win in two sets against Daniela Rosenberger 6-4, 6-2. It marked the sixth victory of the season for Greb, who now leads the Flyers in singles wins.

Northern Kentucky cut UD's lead to 3-2 in No. 4 singles before Wojcikiewicz clinched the match with a win in No. 2 singles over Elizabeth Rozin. The Pittsburgh, Pa., native took the first set and the deciding third set to give the Flyers a win over the Norse for the first time since 2017.

Hamilton finished the match for the Flyers, winning her fourth match of the season in No. 3 singles. The junior battled to win a close 7-6 set one and took the third set as well to give Dayton a fifth point.

The Flyers will head to IUPUI on Saturday to take on the Jaguars at 2:30 p.m. at West Indy Racquet Club.
