DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's soccer team will take on the Saint Louis Billikiens this weekend in a battle between the top two teams in the Atlantic 10. The match is set for Sunday, October 16th, with kickoff at 1:00 p.m. at Baujan Field. The match is free to attend, and will be streamed on ESPN+.
FLYER FACTS
The Flyers (12-2-1, 6-1 A-10) enter the match coming off of their first conference loss this season in a close battle vs VCU. Over the course of the season, Dayton has found success both offensively and defensively averaging nearly 2 goals per match while just allowing 0.67 goals per match.
Itala Gemelli has been the focal point of the Flyers offense all season long as she has contributed 20 points on nine goals and two assists. Of her nine goals, six have been game winners, another category in which she leads the conference as well as the NCAA, and the Flyers will look to her to continue this success on Sunday.
On the defensive end, the Flyers' goalkeepers have been strong all season long, receiving contributions from all three rostered goalies.
Batoul Reda currently leads the keepers in minutes, wins, total saves, and has tallied an impressive .808 save percentage.
A win on Sunday would leap-frog the Flyers back into a tie for first place in the Atlantic 10, and would give them great momentum as the conference season begins to wind down.
SCOUTING #10 SAINT LOUIS
The Billikens (13-1,6-0, ranked #10 in the NCAA) enter Sunday's contest atop the A-10 with zero conference losses. Saint Louis is riding on one of the hottest streaks in all of soccer as they have won their last 11 matches. A majority of this success is attributed to their strong offensive play, as they have netted 43 goals as a unit. Caroline Kelly, tied for the league lead in goals with
Itala Gemelli, has scored nine times along with four assists. Another key contributor to this success has been Emily Gaebe who has added 20 points for the Billikens on seven goals and six assists. This one-two punch sits in first and second place in the conference and has paced the Saint Louis offense throughout their current winning streak.
