DAYTON - The University of Dayton volleyball team is set to host George  Washington for two Atlantic 10 matches this weekend. Friday the Flyers and Colonials will square off at 7 p.m. followed by a 3 p.m. tilt on Saturday. All Dayton volleyball home matches are played at Frericks Center and admission is free.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (12-10, 6-3 A-10) split its two-match series at VCU last weekend, claiming a 3-1 win on Friday before falling to the Rams by the same margin on Saturday. Sophomore Lexie Almodovar leads the team and ranks first in the A-10 with 3.88 kills/set and 4.54 points/set (45th NCAA) while junior Amelia Moore leads the team with a .353 hitting percentage (2nd A-10) and 1.40 blocks/set (3rd A-10) and she ranks third in the nation with 119 total blocks. As a team, Dayton ranks second in the A-10 in hitting percentage (.212), kills/set (12.73) and blocks/set (2.49).

ABOUT GEORGE WASHINGTON
George  Washington (12-10, 6-3 A-10) had its six-match Atlantic 10 winning streak snapped Saturday with a 3-1 loss to Fordham at home and its 6-3 conference record is tied with Dayton for third place in league standings. The Colonials' offense is paced by Liv Womble with 3.05 kills/set (6th A-10) and Grace Allread with 5.19 assists/set (9th A-10) while Salem Yohannes serves up 0.49 aces/set (3rd A-10). On defense, Tierra Porter collects 1.41 blocks/set (2nd A-10) and Bella Bowman gets under 4.19 digs/set (4th A-10).

SERIES STUFF
Dayton Leads, 40-11
The Flyers have won 13 straight against the Colonials including two wins last season. The pair last squared off on Nov. 7, 2021 in Dayton as UD downed GW in straight sets.

RPI RANKINGS
In the NCAA's first Rating Percentage Index (RPI) through games on Oct. 16, Dayton ranked 151st according to NCAA.com. George  Washington is ranked 206th.

FLYER FACTS
• Tim Horsmon is in his 14th season overall, and ninth since 2007, as head coach of the Flyers in 2022. His record at Dayton is 335-100 and his career win-loss mark sits at 511-264 in 24 seasons as a head coach. Horsmon is the program's winningest coach after surpassing R. Elaine Dreidame who amassed 310 wins 1970-79.
• Over the last 14 seasons (2009-2022), the Flyers have recorded a 174-17 (.911) mark in regular season Atlantic 10 Conference play, including a perfect 14-0 mark in 2016, 2015 and 2012, a 15-0 record in 2010 and a 16-0 mark in 2021. UD suffered only one conference loss in 2020, 2019, 2017, 2014, 2011 and 2009.
• Dayton made its 22nd-consecutive and 25th overall appearance in the Atlantic 10 Championship in 2021. The Flyers have reached conference post-season play every year they have been a member of the A-10 except 1995 and 1999. UD holds a 33-10 record in league tournaments matches.

• In the program's 16 NCAA Tournament appearances, Dayton has reached the Second Round nine times and the Flyers hold a 9-16 all-time record in NCAA tourney matches.
• During the 2014 season, Dayton surpassed the 1,000-win mark as a program to become just the 13th NCAA DI team to attain that level of success. The Flyers entered the 2022 season ranked 12th all-time in the Division I record book with an overall program tally of 1,193-607 (.663) over 52 seasons (1970).
• The Flyers finished the 2021 season with a 26-6 overall record and a 16-0 Atlantic 10 mark, finishing in first place in regular-season league play. 2021 was the program's 43rd winning season.
