DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's soccer team put it's nine-match winning streak on the line Sunday, as it hosted the VCU Rams at Baujan Field. In a battle of top-three teams in the Atlantic 10, the Flyers fought hard but would fall to the Rams by a 2-1 final score.

With the defeat, the Flyers' record runs to 12-2-1, with a 6-1 mark in A-10 play. With Saint Louis winning on the road at UMass Sunday, the Flyers fall to second place overall behind the 6-0 Billikens. VCU remains in third in the conference with their 4-0-2 A-10 record, improving to 6-1-7 overall.

Audrey Steiert started off the second half with her third goal of the season, on a beautiful set piece delivery from
Natalie Hegg in the 52
nd minute. The Rams would answer just 18 minutes later, as Kanna Matsuhisa tallied her second goal of the season to tie the match in the 70
th minute. Matsuhisa provided the key moment of the match just 10 minutes later, as her left footed curling strike rippled the back left corner of the net past Flyers keeper
Batoul Reda, to give VCU the lead, and eventually the victory.
