TERRE HAUTE, IND. – The University of Dayton men's and women's cross country programs competed in the NCAA Division I Great Lakes Region Championships on Friday morning, rounding out the fall season of competition for the Flyers. The top two finishing teams from each region earned automatic bids to the NCAA Championship, as well as the top four individual finishers from non-qualifying schools overall.
 
The men's program finished 20^th overall out of 29 competing teams, just four places lower than their finish a season ago at the Great Lakes Regional meet in Evansville, Ind. The Flyers finished with three runners in the top 125 overall, highlighted by a 73^rd overall finish from junior Sam Duncan, who set a new personal best in the 10K race with a 31:38.2 finishing time. Fellow junior Bryce Conley also finished in the top 100 overall, coming in 85^th with a time of 31:53.9.
 
On the women's side, the Flyers had a strong overall showing, placing 14^th in the event among 31 of the top women's cross country programs in the region. Five of the seven Flyers competing in Friday's 6K race finished in the top 100 overall, including senior Emily Sreenan, who finished her Dayton career on a high note, finishing 66^th overall with a 21:35.1 finishing time, her season best in the event. Newcomer Marissa Pritchett had a standout performance in the first Regional Championship appearance of her collegiate career, finishing 85^th overall, with her best 6K time since the Paul Short Run at a 22:02.9.
