DAYTON - The University of Dayton volleyball team put away Rhode Island 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-13) at home Friday night in Atlantic 10 Conference play. Fourteen Flyers saw action in the game, the first of a two-match series in Frericks Center to close out the 2022 regular season.
Dayton, currently in third place in A-10 standings, improves to 17-13 overall and 11-6 in league games while Rhode Island moves to 6-24 on the season and 2-15 in conference play.
KEY STATS
12 - as a team, the Flyers served up 12 aces, led by sophomore
Anna Wuensch with five, compared to the Rams' four
10 - freshman
Taylor Russell was the team's leading passer with 10 digs to go with a team-high nine kills and four aces
7 & 3 - sophomore
Alayna Yates tallied seven kills while swinging at .636 and also collected three blocks
.021 - Dayton held Rhode Island to a team hitting percentage of .021
UP NEXT
Dayton will close out the 2022 regular season Saturday with a 4 p.m. match-up against Rhode Island at Frericks Center. Admission is free.
