Women's Tennis Bested By Marshall On Saturday Afternoon

Junior Elizabeth Hamilton Wins Two Matches In Loss

MIAMISBURG, Ohio – The University of Dayton women's tennis team fell to Marshall on Saturday afternoon at South Regency Tennis Center in Miamisburg. Junior Elizabeth Hamilton won both of her matches against the Thundering Herd.

The Flyers fall to 4-4 on the season, while Marshall improves to 5-2. The match opened with the doubles point going to Marshall. Dayton picked up a win on Court Two with Hamilton and fellow junior Paige Kompa defeating Madi Ballow and Jutte Van Hansewyck 6-4, but Marshall took the other two doubles sets to take a 1-0 lead.

Hamilton continued her momentum into singles play against Liz Stefancic in No. 3 singles. The junior took the first set 6-4 before falling in set two, forcing a decisive third set. The Union, Ky., native took down Stefancic 11-9 in the tiebreak to take the match and give Dayton the lone point of the match.

Senior Claire Ghidotti, juniors Kompa and Erica Wojcikiewicz, and freshmen Laura Greb and Neena Katauskas all fell to Marshall in their respective singles flights.

The Flyers will remain at home for a Sunday match against Butler. That match will begin at 11 a.m. and will take place at South Regency Tennis Center.
