Women's Tennis Falls 6-1 To Davidson Sunday Morning

The Flyers Will Head To Pittsburgh Next Weekend For Two A-10 Matches

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The University of Dayton women's tennis team fell 6-1 against Davidson at Charleston Tennis Center in Charleston, S.C. Freshman Neena Katauskas won her second singles match of the weekend to give the Flyers their lone point of the contest.

Katauskas was 2-0 against UMass on Friday and followed that up with a win against Davidson. The Flyers fall to 7-8 on the season and 0-2 against conference opponents, while Davidson improves to 9-4.

The Flyers fell in all three doubles matches, despite a close battle in No. 2 doubles. Juniors Elizabeth Hamilton and Paige Kompa put forth a strong effort, but fell 7-6 to Elizabeth Trulick and Mira Gladstone.

Dayton's second outdoor match of the season saw the Flyers take just one of six singles points from Davidson. Katauskas improves to 10-10 on the year, with her 10 wins leading the Flyers with her win in No. 3 singles. The freshman is now 3-1 overall in the third singles flight after beating Emma Heiderscheit in straight sets 6-1, 6-2.

Next up for the Flyers is another pair of A-10 opponents next weekend. Dayton will open by taking on St. Bonaventure next Saturday, March 26, in a neutral court match in Pittsburgh before returning for a true road contest at Duquesne on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both matches will take place at Alpha Tennis & Fitness Center of Pittsburgh
