Softball Hosting Saint Joseph's For Three This Weekend

Series to Kick Off Friday with Single Game at 3:30 P.M.

DAYTON - For the second-straight weekend, the University of Dayton softball team will host a three-game Atlantic 10 series at UD Softball Stadium. Dayton will play host to Saint Joseph's with a single game Friday at 3:30 p.m. and a doubleheader Sunday beginning at 12 p.m. Admission is free.

SCOUTING SAINT JOSEPH'S
Saint Joseph's (7-14, 3-3 A-10) is coming off a 6-2 midweek non-conference loss against Drexel at home on Wednesday, capping off a seven-game homestand. SJU swept its three-game A-10 series against George Mason last weekend. The Hawks's offense is led by Taylor Marinelli with 13 RBI on 16 hits, including three doubles and two home runs, while Jordan Hinkle has a team-high 17 hits and is 6-for-7 in stolen bases. In the circle for Saint Joseph's Amanda Herr (3-4) holds the team's low ERA of 4.03 while Emily Siler has tallied a team-high 35 strikeouts over 61.1 innings of work.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (8-13, 4-2 A-10) had its Wednesday doubleheader at Morehead State postponed due to inclement weather and poor field conditions. UD took two of three from visiting St. Bonaventure this past weekend, including two five-run wins on Sunday. Junior Grace Gressly leads four Flyers swinging above .300 with a .395 average (4th A-10) and current A-10 Rookie of the Week Emma Schutter (.348) has recorded a team-high 24 hits (7th A-10) and is a perfect 12-for-12 (2nd A-10) in stolen bases. Senior Kelsey Gumm (3-4) leads the Flyer pitching corps with a 2.10 ERA with four complete games, two saves and 46 strikeouts over 50.0 innings pitched.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton and St. Bonaventure started their three-game series on Saturday but it was suspended due to weather. After restarting on Sunday, the Flyers and Bonnies played two and a half games to complete the series. In the finale, Dayton claimed an 11-3 five-inning win on the strength of a season-high 18 hits including a perfect 4-for-4 outing for junior Katie Reeg.
